The National Centre for Animal Health organized a five-day workshop to review and update the National Strategic Plan on the elimination of dog-mediated rabies and to develop the National Framework and Guidelines on Leptospirosis Prevention and Control through a One Health approach.
The workshop brought together experts and representatives from key stakeholder agencies, including the Department of Livestock, Ministry of Health, Department of Forests and Park Services, Bhutan Food and Drug Authority, and the College of Natural Resources.
During the workshop, the experts reviewed and updated the draft National Strategic Plan for the elimination of dog-mediated rabies in line with the global target of eliminating dog-mediated human rabies by 2030. The workshop also developed draft documents outlining the One Health coordination and response mechanisms for leptospirosis prevention and control in Bhutan.
The workshop aimed to strengthen multisectoral coordination, enhance preparedness and response mechanisms, and promote collaborative prevention and control of zoonotic diseases in Bhutan under the One Health framework.
