The National Center for Animal Health (NCAH), in collaboration with the Bhutan Food and Drug Authority (BFDA), is hosting a five-day workshop on “Working with AMR Surveillance Data from Animals, Food, and Environment” from March 31 to April 4, 2025, at River Valley Hotel, Paro. The workshop is organized under the Fleming Fund Country Grant Phase 2, with technical expertise from the AMROH-SA Regional Grant. It brings together experts and participants from the Department of Livestock (DoL), BFDA, and the Royal Centre for Disease Control (RCDC).
The training provides both theoretical and practical knowledge on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) data analysis, with a strong focus on using the R AMR package. Participants are engaging in hands-on sessions to enhance their skills in AMR data processing, visualization, and interpretation. Key topics include surveillance data management, quality control, and the application of statistical tools for evidence-based decision-making.
International experts from Massey University, Utrecht University, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital are leading the sessions; ensuring global best practices are incorporated. This initiative aims to strengthen Bhutan’s capacity in AMR surveillance by equipping participants with the analytical skills needed to support national and regional AMR monitoring efforts.
