PVS Mission Visit to NCAH

On 10 and 12 March 2026, the mission team from the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) Performance of Veterinary Services (PVS) carried out a Follow-up Evaluation Mission at the National Centre for Animal Health in Serbithang. The mission also included specific assessments on Rabies and Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR).

During the visit, the mission team was briefed on the Centre’s profile, including its vision, mission, and mandates. This was followed by technical presentations on Rabies and Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), which led to in-depth discussions and exchanges of views among the participants. Subsequently NADPM & RCP team leader made presentation on the activities implemented till date and the upcoming programs under the NADPM & RCP. The final presentation was regarding the Veterinary Information Syetem (New and Old) by the Focal of the VIS.

The session was also attended virtually by representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Bhutan Food and Drug Authority, and livestock officials from the regional offices, dzongkhags, and geogs. Dr Hanry, a member of the mission team, also joined the discussions virtually.

The mission proved to be highly insightful, as the team provided innovative and forward-looking recommendations that are expected to significantly strengthen and further enhance Bhutan’s veterinary services.
