On March 26, 2025, a team from the Fleming Fund, Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), along with representatives from Mott MacDonald, visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MoAL) and the National Center for Animal Health (NCAH).
Their visit aimed to engage with senior officials and relevant stakeholders, observe Fleming Fund investments in laboratory infrastructure, understand the AMR identification process including bench work and testing, and assess challenges while conducting a light-touch audit of supported assets.
During the visit, NCAH presented key achievements from Fleming Fund Country Grant (CG) Phase 1, contributions by Fleming Fellows, and ongoing initiatives under CG Phase 2. The team then visited the Sheep Shed and Bacteriology Laboratory to inspect laboratory equipment procured through Fleming Fund support.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity for NCAH, as the Beneficiary Institute and Implementing Partner of Fleming Fund activities for animal health, to showcase its overall progress and contributions in AMR surveillance and veterinary laboratory capacity-building in Bhutan.
