A three-day workshop on hands on practice for ANIMUSE is being held in Metta Resort at Paro w.e.f. 3 to 5 of June 2025. The workshop is being coordinated by NCAH and is funded by Fleming Fund Country Grant phase II. National Center for Animal Health under Department of Livestock Submits the import data of antimicrobials annually to WOAH Animal anti-Microbial USE (ANIMUSE). It is a web based global database AMU tool with interactive dashboard which allows the Members to explore and analyze their own data.
Medicines including antimicrobials are being procured and distributed to the animal health centers through centralized procurement and distribution system by NCAH. Hence, the import data is submitted online system of ANIMUSE database annually.
In order generate quality data, proper calculation of the antimicrobial quantities imported needs to be calculated properly and submitted for inferences and analysis. This data collection also could be used at the district or regional level for inter district comparison. Therefore, the workshop aims to train the regional and district focal on calculating the antimicrobial uses.
The participants include representatives from various agencies under the Department of Livestock; National Veterinary Hospital, National Center for Animal Health; Regional Veterinary Hospital Phuntsholing, Gelephu, Dzongkhag Veterinary Hospitals, Thimphu/ Chhukha/ Mongar/ Haa/ Gasa/ Tashiyangtse/ Trongsa/Bumthang. Representation from other agencies includes from Medical product division, Bhutan Food & Drug Authority, MoH.
