A three-day workshop titled “Risk Assessment of African Swine Fever (ASF) along the Pork Value Chain in Bhutan” is being held from December 24 to 26, 2024, at Hotel Palm, Phuentsholing. The event brings together veterinary officers, livestock production officers, livestock supervisors from the Department of Livestock, and officials from the Bhutan Food and Drug Authority (BFDA). The main aims objective of the workshop are to:
- Map Bhutan’s pork value chain and identify high-risk nodes.
- Evaluate biosecurity practices along the value chain.
- Assess pathways for ASF introduction and transmission within the value chain.
Facilitated by the National Centre for Animal Health (NCAH), the workshop incorporates national expertise and methodologies from the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). It is supported financially by the FAO Emergency Technical Cooperation Programme (eTCP) for African Swine Fever.
