The National Centre for Animal Health (NCAH) under the Department of Livestock is organizing a five-day workshop to review and update the standard treatment guideline and the antibiotics guideline. With the rapid advancements in technology, knowledge, and skills in veterinary science and antibiotic usage, it is crucial to regularly update existing guidelines to stay current and maintain their relevance. The revised documents will align well with international veterinary health standards ensuring practical and scientifically grounded guidelines for veterinarians, para-professionals, and animal health workers.
The development process involves a participatory approach, drawing input from veterinarians of varied expertise, academicians from the College of Natural Resources (CNR), and the latest veterinary research. These guidelines encompass multiple species, including cattle, poultry, and companion animals, reflecting Bhutan’s diverse farming systems and needs. This initiative underscores Bhutan’s commitment to standardized, accessible animal health services nationwide. Additionally, the updated antibiotics guideline will streamline content by reducing redundancies and incorporating a traffic light system for antimicrobial usage.
The workshop is organized through the financial support of the Fleming Fund Country Grant Phase II Project.
