An outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in cattle was reported from Uesagang village, Dangchhu gewog, Wangdue Phodrang dzongkhag on 1 Apr 2021. As per the flash and follow-up reports shared, the outbreak has started from 28 March 2021, and during the outbreak investigation conducted by a team comprising officials from the RDLC and DLS, Wangdue Phodrang on 2 April 2021, it was found that a total of 12 cattle were affected; however, no mortality was reported. Since cattle from the affected village share common grazing grounds with the cattle and yak herds of Saephu gewog, and with the ongoing FMD outbreak reported from few villages of Saephu gewog, the current outbreak in Dangchhu gewog was suspected to have spread from yaks and cattle of Saephu gewog. All the necessary control and prevention measures have been implemented by the team.
