Infectious bursal disease (IBD): Darla, Chhukha
An outbreak of Infectious bursal disease (IBD) in poultry was reported from Chhumedlakha and Rinchentse villages of Darla Gewog, Chhukha Dzongkhag on 7 January 2021. As per the investigation report shared, after testing the samples with AI rapid test and observing the PM lesions, the outbreak was suspected to be Avian Influenza or Newcastle disease; however, the samples were referred to the NCAH for confirmation. After testing against all the suspected diseases, the NVL confirmed the disease to be Infectious bursal disease (IBD) on 10 January 2021. As per the updates shared on 12 January 2021, a total of 455 poultry birds died in 5 broiler farms (4 in Chhumedlakha and 1 in Rinchentse). All the necessary control measures have been implemented by the RLDC, Tsimasham and the Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, Chhukha.
