On 9th January 2020, a rabies positive case was reported from Sarpang Tar area, Shompangkha gewog, Sarpang dzongkhag. Necessary control measures are put in place by the dzongkhag livestock sector, Sarpang.
A cow in Gomtu village, Phuentshopelri gewog, Samtse district tested positive to rabies on 5th January 2020. All control measures are being implemented by the dzongkhag livestock sector, Samtse.
A stray dog in the Industrial area (near K.D Workshop) under Samdrup Jongkhar thromde, was reported to have tested rabies positive on 29 July 2019. Control measures are being implemented by City Veterinary Hospital and Satellite Laboratory, Dewathang, and Dzongkhag livestock sector, Samdrup Jongkhar
Outbreak of rabies reported on 3 June 2019, from Shatsalo village of Norbugang geog, Pemagatshel dzongkhag, is still continuing. From the same locality, a cow, on 6th July, and a dog, on 7th July 2019, tested positive to rabies. In line with the National rabies prevention and control plan, 2017, all control measures are being implemented by TVH&SL, Nganglam and Dzongkhag livestock sector, Pemagatshel.
Outbreaks of Foot and mouth disease were reported from Menchuna, Genteykha and Jelegang villages under Phuentenchu geog of Tsirang dzongkhag, on 10 July 2019, affecting 42 cattle. All control measures are being implemented by dzongkhag livestock sector, Tsirang.
A goat in Sadumadu village, Phuentsholing, Chhukha was reported to have tested positive to rabies on 5 July 2019. All control measures are being implemented by Thromde Veterinary Hospital & Satellite Laboratory, Phuenstsholing and Dzongkhag livestock sector, Chhukha.
Foot and mouth disease outbreaks were reported from Khaireny and Dzodokha villages of Logchina geog, Chhukha, on 3 July 2019, affecting 22 cattle. Necessary control measures are being implemented by dzongkhag livestock sector, Chhukha.
Outbreak of rabies reported from Shatsalo village, Norbugang geog, Pemagatshel on 3 June 2019, is still continuing. A cow from the same locality was reported to have tested positive to rabies on 30 June 2019. Officials from TVH & SVL, Nganglam and dzongkhag livestock sector, Pemagatshel are implementing all control measures, in line with the National rabies prevention and control plan, 2017.
Outbreak of rabies was reported from Tshagay, Philling and Menchhulam villages of Gakidling geog, Sarpang. The outbreak, reported to have started in the first week of June, had affected 1 dog, 8 cattle and 4 goats. The affected dog (1st case) is suspected to have entered these villages from across the border. All control measures are being implemented by the dzongkhag livestock sector, Sarpang.
Outbreak of swine erysipelas was reported in RPBC, Yusipang, Thimphu on 21 May 2019, affecting two boars and a gilt. Swine erysipelas is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Erysipelas rhusiopathiae seen mainly in growing pigs and characterized clinically by fever, skin lesions (Diamond-shaped lesions) and arthritis. All preventive and control measures are being implemented by the farm’s technical officials.
