An outbreak of Black quarter (Black leg) disease in cattle was reported from Jalang village of Minjey Gewog, Lhuentse Dzongkhag on 24th September 2020. As per the flash report, a total of 3 cattle had succumbed to the infection. All control measures have been implemented by the Dzongkhag livestock sector, Lhuentse.

A cat in NHDCL colony area of Dewathang Gewog, Samdrup Jongkhar tested positive to rabies on 15th September 2020. All prevention and control measures have been implemented by the Dzongkhag Livestock Sector in line with the national rabies prevention and control plan 2017.
Suspected outbreak of Peste des petits ruminants in goats was reported in Wangchhu (Dog pound area) of Bjabchho Gewog, Chhukha Dzongkhag. As per the flash report shared, the index case was recorded on 12th September, and as of 15th September, a total of 6 goats were affected and 3 died. In line with the National PPR Prevention, Control, and Eradication Plan 2020, all necessary prevention and control measures have been implemented by the Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, Chhukha, and the Regional Livestock Development Centre (RLDC), Tsimasham.
A cow -- bought from Radhi Gewog of Trashigang Dzongkhag 20 days earlier -- in Bainangkhar village, Tongmajangsa Gewog, Trashi Yangtse Dzongkhag, tested positive to rabies on 6th August 2020. A one-day refresher training on Biosafety and Biosecurity was conducted at National Centre for Animal Health, Serbithang, for the laboratory personals of Laboratory Services Unit and Biological Production Unit on 25th June 2020. The main objectives of the training were to ensure regular implementation of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) in the laboratory and also to monitor Bio-safety and biosecurity measures practiced. About 15 laboratory personnel participated in the training. A stray dog in Dewathang town, Dewathang Gewog, Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag, tested positive to rabies on 16th June 2020 after having died showing neurological signs. All control measures have been implemented as per the National rabies prevention and control plan 2017. Last case of rabies in Dewathang was reported on 23rd April 2020.
Suspected outbreak of Anthrax was reported from Chakramari village of Nichula Gewog, Dagana Dzongkhag, on 14th June 2020. As per the flash report shared, two cows succumbed to the infection after showing typical clinical signs and lesions suggestive of Anthrax: Bloating and sudden death with unclotted blood oozing from orifices. All control measures were implemented including prophylactic treatment of unaffected cattle in the herd.
A stray dog tested positive to rabies in the upper market area of Kanglung, Kanglung Gewog, Trashigang Dzongkhag, on 6th June 2020. In response, the Regional Livestock Development Centre, Kanglung, and Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, Trashigang, are conducting mass dog vaccination programme along with implementation of other control measures as per the National Rabies Prevention and Control Plan 2017.
Outbreaks of Classical swine fever (CSF), also called Hog Cholera, were reported from Dekiling, Samtenling and Shomangkha gewogs of Sarpang Dzongkhag on 22nd May 2020. Samples collected from 3 affected piglets, one each from a village of above mentioned gewogs, tested positive to CSF virus by RT-PCR at NVL, Serbithang. TVH&SL, Gelegphu, and Dzongkhag livestock sector, Sarpang, have investigated the outbreaks and all control measures have been implemented.
