A team of visitor led by Dr Daranai Viboolpong, Assistant Vice President, Animal Health and Technology Business from BETAGRO SCIENCE CENTRE CO. LTD, Thailand visited National Centre for Animal Health, Serbithang on 4th August, 2015. Dr Kinzang Dukpa, Program Director of the Centre briefed the team on Centre’s mandate. FMD outbreak in Bumthang Dzongkhag

Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak has occurred at Ugencholing village, Tang Geog under Bumthang Dzongkhag on 14th July 2015. A total of 97 animals were affected from 135 susceptible cattle in the Chiwog. Four calves have died from the disease. The investigation team from Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, Bumthang & Regional Livestock Development Centre, Zhemgang have visited the outbreak site and conducted detail investigation including sample collection. The National Centre for Animal Health in Serbithang is conducting a seven days “Training of Trainers and System Testing for G2C Database for Essential Veterinary Drug Program (EVDP)” in the country from 15th June 2015 to 21st June 2015. NATION WIDE FREE ROAMING DOG SURVEY TRAINING

Training on Nationwide free roaming dog survey is currently being conducted at the National Centre for Animal Health, Serbithang from 12th May 2015 for two days. Update on Bird Flu outbreak in Thimphu Dzongkhag

The recent outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (H5N1) at Thimphu City Camp, Motithang under Thimphu Dzongkhag on April 3, 2015 as confirmed by National Centre for Animal Health, Serbithang was subsequently reconfirmed at the National Institute of High Security Animal Disease, Bhopal, OIE reference laboratory for avian influenza. In accordance to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of National Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Plan 2014 (NIPPP) of Bhutan, 28 days surveillance after the initial report of outbreak for effective containment of outbreak ended today. Training workshop on STATA and Research Methodology

National Centre for Animal Health, Department of Livestock Serbithang is organizing three day Training on STATA (Statistics and Data Analysis) and Research Methodology at NCAH from 8-10 April 2015. NCAH Serbithang organised GIS training

National Centre for Animal Health, Department of Livestock Serbithang organized six day Training on GIS and Spatial Data Analysis using public domain software - Quantum GIS, GPS, GeoDA, and SatScan at Phuenthsoling from 2-7 March 2015. The training was attended by 33 Veterinary Officers from DVH, SVL, RLDC and NCAH. During the training, the participants were taught to map disease data and conduct basic spatial analyses. This will assist field veterinary officers to analyse the data and make necessary policy decision on disease prevention and control program in the country. The training was delivered by Drs. Tenzin and Bir Doj Rai.
