Foot and mouth disease outbreak affecting 8 nos. of cattle in Yebisa chiwog, Chhubu gewog, Punakha dzongkhag was reported by the in-charge, RNR-EC, Chhubu on 27/03/2019. The outbreak which is said to have started two weeks ago was left unreported by the villagers of Yebisa, and it was observed accidentally during a field visit for ongoing RNR census. Control measures are being implemented by dzongkhag livestock sector, Punakha and RLDC, Wangdue Phodrang.
A stray dog in Dovan village and a cat in Kabraytar area, both under Phuentsholing gewog, Chhukha dzongkhag were tested rabies positive on 26/03/2019. There wasn't any bite case (human and animal) reported from these affected areas. Control measures are being implemented by TVH & SL and RNR-EC, Pachu, under Phuentsholing gewog.
FMD outbreaks in cattle is reported at Tashidingkha and Issa under Drakteng gewog, Trongsa Dzongkhag on 25/03/2019 (affecting 8 cattle). Therapeutic (symptomatic) and prophylactic measures are put in place by dzongkhag livestock sector, Trongsa.
Rapid Response Team (RRT) comprising officials from Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, Regional Livestock Development Centre, Khangma, BAFRA, Medical officials and local government officials are implementing containment measures including public awareness education and mass dog vaccination in Kanglung, Trashigang.
A total of 71 cattle were affected with FMD in Nashiphel, Gongkhar, and Jalikhar villages under Choekhor geog as of 9/3/2019 and a fresh cases (35 cattle) were reported at Bepzur village, Tang geog under Bumthang geog on 7/2/2019. Control measures are being implemented by dzongkhag livestock sector, Bumthang.
A stray dog tested positive to rabies virus at Lengkhar-Rongthung village, Kanglung geog under Trashigang dzongkhag on 12/3/2019. The dog had bitten 3 people in Rongthung and 3 in Lengkhar. All exposed persons were referred to hospital for anti-rabies vaccine and RIGs. Another calf was tested postive to rabies virus at Rongthung village on 11/3/2019. The team from dzongkhag livestock sector and RLDC Khangma, Trashigang are implementing control measures
A single stray dog was tested positive to rabies virus using rapid antigen test at Tshenkari village (DCCL colony) Nganlam under Norbugang geog, Pemagatshel dzongkhag on 26 Feb 2019. There were no history of any human bite cases and also bites in stray and pet dog in the colony. Control measures are being implemented by livestock sector, Nganlam and Pema gatshel. Nganlam shares open border with India.
PPR outbreaks in goats were reported at Baidangtar village under Phuentsholing geog, Chukha dzomgkhag on 28 Feb 2019. A total of 26 goats were affected including 4 deaths in one household. Detailed investgation on the source of outbreaks and control measures are being implemented by the Thromdey Veterinary Hospital, Phuentsholing.
FMD outbreaks in cattle is reported at Pana C under Samphelling geog, Chhukha dzongkhag on 18/2/2019 (affecting 10 cattle). Control measures are being implemented by dzongkhag livestock sector, Chukha.
Rabies case in a stray dog was detected and confirmed at Rangaytong village under Samphelling geog, Chukha dzongkhag on 14 Feb 2019. First case of rabies in Rangaytong was detected on 28/1/2019. RRT are implementing control measures.
