Update on FMD outbreak, Phobjikha, Wangduephodrang.

As per the disease outbreak investigation carried out on 3rd May, 2019, outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Phobjikha geog, Wangduephodrang, reported on 25th April, 2019, had spread further, affecting five cattle in Phangyul geog and two in Kazhi geog under the same dzongkhag. All control measures are put in place by the RLDC and dzongkhag livestock sector, Wangduephodrang.

Update on HPAI outbreak in Dhamdara, Phuentsholing.

Outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Dhamdara, Phuentsholing, reported on 9th April, 2019 is almost under control now and no new cases were reported since 12th April. Following confirmation of the disease, the NICC chaired by the Hon’ble Secretary of the MoAF immediately activated the IOC at Thromde Veterinary Hospital/Satellite Laboratory, Phuentsholing. Rapid response teams comprising of members from the DoL, BAFRA, MoH, RBP and local authorities in Phuentsholing, are all in action. 269 birds died due to the outbreak and the deployed RRTs culled 1130 birds, destroyed 13 coops, and disposed 3955 eggs and 0.613MT poultry feed,...

HPAI outbreak - Phuentsholing, Chhukha.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak is reported at Dhamdara village under Phuentsholing geog, Chhukha on 06-04-2019, affecting 264 poultry birds. Incident Operation Centre (IOC) has been activated following the direction of the National Incident Command Committee meeting held on 10/4/2019. Control measures are being implemented by the RRT and 1095 birds were culled and disposed off as of 09-04-2019.

Rabies case in Samtse geog, Samtse.

A stray dog in Thumkey village, Samtse geog under Samtse dzongkhag tested positive for rabies on 08/04/2019. The affected dog had bitten three cattle and seven other dogs in nearby villages of Bagaicha danra, Saorini and Hallalay. All prophylactic measures are put in place by dzongkhag livestock sector, Samtse.

Outbreaks of Mareks's disease were reported from Baling, Beyling and Dangdung villages under Langthel geog, Trongsa on 11/03/2019, affecting 298 poultry birds with 100 percent mortality. FMD outbreaks in Samphelling geog, Chhukha.

Foot and mouth disease outbreaks in cattle were reported from Malbashey and lower Goumouney areas under Samphelling geog, Chhukha. The 1st outbreak is said to have occurred about two weeks ago and a total of 45 nos. of cattle belonging to 11 households were affected as of 30/03/2019. As per national FMD prevention and control plan, therapeutic and prophylactic measures are being implemented by RLDC, Tsimasham; Dzongkhag livestock sector, Chhukha; and RNR-EC, Samphelling.
